the basics

I’m a librarian with over 10 years of experience working in non-profits and the tech industry. I’ve managed many types of collections, from print serials in an academic library to API documentation on wikis. My academic background is in art history, so cultural heritage metadata and digital humanities projects have a special place in my heart. My pronouns are she/her.
I enjoy bringing order to chaos, and creating bridges between humans and complex technical systems. My work focuses on helping communities manage their information, through data modeling, metadata standardization, and digital curation. I’m open to new opportunities and collaborations that help grassroots organizations, open-source communities, and artists to manage their digital content. In my free time, I enjoy reading sci-fi, listening to jazz and baroque music, and traversing the trails and forests of western Pennsylvania.

work
I’m currently a technical writer at the Wikimedia Foundation. I work on developer documentation and technical content management. Previously, I wrote documentation for internal ML platforms at Google, built taxonomies, managed periodicals in an academic library, helped students and researchers find information, and managed data about non-profits for an information & referral service. See my full résumé.
education
I received my MLIS from the University of Pittsburgh in 2009. My studies focused on classification systems, metadata, and organizing information. I was (am) especially interested in community informatics, progressive library practice, ontologies, and structured data.
My BA from the University of Michigan (2006) is in “Arts & Ideas in the Humanities”: I studied French language & literature, classics, art history, and studio art. My research focused on gender and women’s issues in archaic and classical Greek vase painting.
social justice & volunteering
I became a librarian because I care about helping people access information, and that focus has also driven much of my social justice and volunteer work. I like to apply my technical skills in website development and content management to support artists and non-profits. From 2021-2025, I freelanced and volunteered with Let’s Get Free. I helped with their website, curated digital content for the annual art shows and auctions, and did research and copyediting for print publications. In 2025-2026, I began training as a Pennsylvania Master Naturalist, and began focusing my volunteerism on conservation and environmental education.
Additional (past) volunteer work is in my résumé.
studio art & teaching
I create art in various mediums, but favor collage, sculpture, and painting. For a list of exhibitions and to view the evolution of my artistic practice, visit my portfolio.
In 2018-2019, I taught a peer-to-peer adult studio art class and curated exhibits at Google’s Pittsburgh office. In 2023, I taught a visual art class at Cancer Bridges. Additional (past) volunteer work is in my résumé.
ye olde blog
This site still contains lots of fun but outdated content from back when I was in library school / before I had a real job and could just write about art, Pittsburgh, and who knows what else. If that’s your thing, here are my categories:
